The Host serves as the first and last impression of the dining experience at Auberge du Soleil. This role is responsible for warmly welcoming guests, managing reservations and seating, coordinating guest flow, and creating an exceptional arrival and departure experience that reflects the resort's Forbes Five-Star standards.
Working closely with Food & Beverage leadership and service team members, the Host ensures seamless communication, efficient table management, and personalized guest service while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, warmth, and hospitality.
- Greet every guest with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality, creating an exceptional first impression.
- Escort guests to their tables while providing personalized and engaging service.
- Manage guest arrivals, departures, and waitlists in an organized and efficient manner.
- Anticipate guest preferences and special requests whenever possible.
- Provide accurate information regarding menus, dining experiences, resort amenities, and special events.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally or elevate issues to Restaurant leadership when appropriate.
- Ensure every guest interaction reflects Auberge Collection's luxury service philosophy and Forbes Five-Star standards.
- Manage reservations using the property's reservation management system.
- Coordinate seating assignments to maximize guest satisfaction while supporting service efficiency.
- Monitor dining room flow and adjust seating plans based on business levels and operational needs.
- Maintain accurate wait times and communicate updates clearly with guests.
- Collaborate with Restaurant Managers and service team members to ensure balanced table assignments and smooth transitions throughout service.
- Monitor reservation notes, VIP arrivals, celebrations, dietary restrictions, and guest preferences to ensure personalized experiences.
- Prepare the host stand before each service period, ensuring all materials, menus, and reservation systems are organized and ready.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the entrance, reception area, and host station.
- Answer telephone calls professionally and assist guests with reservations, inquiries, and requests.
- Support service team members by maintaining awareness of dining room activity and assisting where appropriate.
- Assist with menu presentation, guest communications, and operational projects as assigned.
- Ensure all service standards and operating procedures are consistently followed.
- Partner closely with Restaurant Managers, culinary team members, servers, bartenders, and support staff to ensure seamless service.
- Communicate effectively regarding guest arrivals, seating priorities, special occasions, and operational updates.
- Support a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas of the restaurant when business needs require.
The starting pay rate for this position is $17.90-$18.90 per hour plus tips. This is the pay rate for this position that Auberge du Soleil reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual pay will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.
- Previous experience in luxury hospitality, fine dining, hotel, or restaurant guest services preferred.
- Previous host, concierge, front desk, or guest-facing experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a polished and professional demeanor.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and guest-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with reservation management systems and basic computer applications preferred.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering personalized guest experiences.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
